# Setting Up Your Business

Your business profile is the foundation of your Storescribe experience. The information you provide helps us deliver personalized insights, relevant industry news, and on-brand content.

## Why Your Profile Matters

A complete business profile enables:

* **Relevant Industry News** - We show articles specific to your business type
* **Smart Competitor Suggestions** - Find businesses similar to yours
* **On-Brand Content** - AI-generated content that matches your voice and location
* **Accurate Audits** - SEO, social, and brand audits tailored to your situation
* **Local Context** - Weather, local events, and market-specific strategies

## Onboarding Setup

When you first create your account, you'll go through an onboarding flow that collects your essential business information. You can also update any of this later in Settings.

## Required Information

### Business Name

Enter your official business name as customers know it. This is used throughout Storescribe and in generated content.

### Business Address

Your full address (street, city, state, zip) helps us:

* Find local competitors via Google Maps
* Provide location-relevant insights and weather
* Show local events in Strategy Room
* Tailor content for your market

### Business Category (NAICS Code)

We use NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) codes to categorize your business.

{% hint style="info" %}
**What's a NAICS code?** It's a standard system used to classify businesses by industry. Don't worry - just start typing your business type and we'll help you find the right one.
{% endhint %}

**How to choose:**

1. Start typing your business type (e.g., "restaurant", "plumber", "retail")
2. Select the category that best matches your business
3. If you're unsure, pick the closest match - you can always change it later

### Website URL (Recommended)

Adding your website allows Storescribe to:

* Analyze your SEO and online presence
* Generate content that matches your existing brand voice
* Run accessibility (ADA) audits
* Build your Brand DNA profile

## Optional Information

Once set up, you can enhance your profile in **Settings** > **Business**:

| Field                | Description                     |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| Phone Number | Your business contact number |
| Contact Person Name | Primary contact for the account |
| Contact Person Email | Contact email address |

## Tips for a Great Profile

{% hint style="success" %}
**Be Specific:** Instead of just "Restaurant," choose "Full-Service Restaurant" or "Pizza Restaurant" for more relevant insights.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Keep It Updated:** If your business moves or changes focus, update your profile so your insights stay relevant.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Add Your Website:** Even a simple website helps Storescribe understand your brand better and enables SEO audits.
{% endhint %}

## Editing Your Profile Later

1. Click **Settings** in the sidebar
2. Select **Business**
3. Update your contact information, location, or website
