# Security

Keep your Storescribe account secure. Here's what you need to know.

## Password Security

### Creating a Strong Password

Your password should:

* Be at least 8 characters long
* Include uppercase and lowercase letters
* Include numbers
* Include special characters (!@#$%^&\*)
* Be unique to Storescribe

### Password Tips

**Use a password manager.** Tools like 1Password, LastPass, or Bitwarden generate and store strong passwords.

**Never reuse passwords.** Use a unique password for every service.

**Change if compromised.** If you suspect your password was exposed, change it immediately.

### Changing Your Password

1. Go to **Settings** > **Profile**
2. Scroll to the Security section
3. Enter your current password
4. Enter your new password (8+ characters)
5. The password strength indicator helps you choose a strong password
6. Click Save

## Account Access

### Who Has Access

Only you should have access to your account. Never share:

* Your password
* Login links from emails
* Session information

### Suspicious Activity

If you notice something unusual:

1. Change your password immediately
2. Review recent account activity

## Session Security

### Best Practices

* Log out when using shared computers
* Don't save passwords on public devices
* Close browser when done

### Automatic Logout

For security, you may be logged out after:

* Extended inactivity
* Password changes
* Security events

## Email Security

### Recognizing Legitimate Emails

Emails from Storescribe will:

* Come from @storescribe.ai domain
* Never ask for your password
* Include your name if you've provided it

### Phishing Warning

**We will never ask for your password via email.** If you receive such a request, it's a scam.

If you receive a suspicious email:

1. Don't click any links
2. Don't provide any information
3. Forward to <support@storescribe.ai>
4. Delete the email

## Data Security

### How We Protect Your Data

* **Encryption** - Data encrypted in transit and at rest
* **Secure hosting** - Enterprise-grade infrastructure
* **Regular audits** - Security reviews and testing
* **Access controls** - Strict internal access policies

### Your Data Rights

You can:

* Access your data anytime
* Export your information
* Request deletion

## Reporting Security Issues

If you discover a security vulnerability:

1. Email <security@storescribe.ai>
2. Describe the issue in detail
3. Don't exploit the vulnerability
4. Allow time for us to respond
